How to Install Visual Paradigm on Linux as Root User

Using installer (.sh)
The installer version of Visual Paradigm creates shortcuts and menus in your system, enabling you to start Visual Paradigm faster and easier. To install Visual Paradigm using the installer, follow these steps:
Download the Visual Paradigm installer file from https://www.visual-paradigm.com/download/.
Open a terminal and navigate to the directory where you downloaded the installer file.
Execute the installer file with the bash command. For example: bash ./Visual_Paradigm_CE_Linux64_16_3_20210901.sh
The setup wizard will appear. Click Next to proceed to the License Agreement page.
Read through the license agreement carefully. Make sure you accept the terms before continuing with the installation. If you accept the agreement, select I accept the agreement and click Next to proceed to the Select Destination Directory page.
Specify the directory for installing Visual Paradigm. You may need to enter your root password if you want to install it in a system directory. Click Next to proceed to the next page.
Select a folder for creating symlinks. You may uncheck Create symlinks if you do not want to. Click Next to start the file copying process.
Upon finishing, you can select whether to start Visual Paradigm or not. Keep Visual Paradigm selected and click Finish will run Visual Paradigm right away.
Using InstallFree (.tar.gz)
The InstallFree version of Visual Paradigm is a pre-packed Visual Paradigm installation that can be run directly once de-compressed (no further setup required). We suggest users use the InstallFree version for evaluation and testing purposes. To install Visual Paradigm using the InstallFree version, follow these steps:
Download the Visual Paradigm InstallFree file from https://www.visual-paradigm.com/download/.
Open a terminal and navigate to the directory where you downloaded the InstallFree file.
Decompress the file into a directory with the tar command. For example: tar -zxf Visual_Paradigm_CE_Linux64_16_3_20210901.tar.gz -C /opt
This will create a subdirectory named âVisual Paradigm 16.3â where 16.3 is the version number.
To start Visual Paradigm, execute Visual Paradigm 16.3/Visual_Paradigm.
